The
concept |
BUSINESS
Africa is a television programme that aims to broadcast economics
news from all of the countries on the African continent.
Created
in June 2000, the programme is designed to closely follow developments
in Africa, and broadcast information on the local, national and
regional economies. It also covers world business news, particularly
when it relates to investment and technology that impacts on the
continent.
The programme
is also an opportunity to help the public become more familiar with
the economic market, and to promote a new image of Africa and its
key players. The spotlight is also turned on the intiatives that
contribute to the economic and social development on the continent.
The
programme |
Produced
in French and English by the press agency, People TV, and with the
support of the European Commission, the programme BUSINESS Africa is broadcast each week by more than 41 African partner channels.
With a duration
of about 30 minutes, the programme is made up of several reports
of between three and six minutes each, news summaries and a game.
The programme is produced in close collaboration with designated
journalists at the partner television stations.
The framework
of the programme consists of recurring themes: a report on a specific
sector (eg. the production of green beans in Kenya...), a macro
economics subject (eg. how the CFA franc is affected by the introduction
of the Euro..), a profile of a man or a woman (eg. business leaders,
artists, heads of regional development programmes...). Added to
this each week is news, in the form of summaries, and a sequence
on the internet.
